My issue is not with the creators of Thor. Many pagans like Thor. My issue is not with Gaiman either, or any other person who uses Thor in media. That’s their prerogative. My ISSUE is with the stupid double standard that so many people seem to hold onto.

Tumblr wants really hard to truncate this, but Amber-and-ice is entirely correct. We didn’t “miss” what you said. We are aware of your “ISSUE” and the fact that it is wrong. It’s not a “double standard”. If you want to get pissed off at appropriation of Heathen sacred elements, get pissed at the neonazis and white supremacists co-opting it for their racist and violent agendas. Even then, it’s not cultural appropriation. Also “Heathen” is not the same as “gypsy”. “Gypsy” is a racial slur. “Heathen” does not equate race, and has been quite easily reclaimed by privileged people. These two terms cannot be compared in any way. You entirely missed even the most basic of points and the barest bottom level of the issue of appropriation. Your anger is weird and misplaced. Step back and think about how you came to the conclusions you did. I mean step REALLY far back, as far as you can go, right to the beginning when you first had an inkling of these issues. Step all the way back to when you started to get an idea of what cultural appropriation was. That’s how far back you need to go, and start all over again. Think really hard about why you’re so defensive of this opinion.

Besides the hype, besides the technical fuckups of NASDAQ, besides the overvaluation and offering too many shares during their IPO, I think the reason Facebook’s stock is failing as much as it is right now is that people have come to realize that Everybody’s Favorite Social Network is just too obnoxious, intrusive, and data-scrapingly assholish in the way it treats everyone from its most ardent users to, sadly, people on third-party platforms like, I dunno, TUMBLR, that perhaps want nothing at all to do with the privacy black hole that is Mark Zuckerberg’s dickishness incarnate but wake up and log on to find THIS UTTER BULLSHIT.
